At Nesos Group, product development is driven by identifying systemic risks that are not adequately addressed by existing technology.

We are based in Jersey, Channel Islands, where recorded radon levels are among the highest in the British Isles. In reviewing how radon risk is managed across large property portfolios including housing associations, commercial estates, and government-owned buildings, we identified a clear and unmet need for real-time radon monitoring.

This need is especially acute in environments such as schools and educational settings, where radon exposure presents a heightened risk to children. Traditional radon testing methods are typically periodic and short-term, providing only a snapshot rather than continuous visibility.

Despite the requirement for continuous, remote monitoring across multiple buildings, existing solutions were typically priced and designed for limited or specialist use, making them impractical for cost-effective, portfolio-wide deployment.

In response, we developed our own.

LoRAD Pro – LoRaWAN Radon Monitor

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas and a significant public-health risk. It is colourless, odourless, and impossible to detect without specialist monitoring. Long-term exposure is a well-established cause of lung cancer.

The World Health Organization recommends a reference level of 100 Bq/m³ where feasible and highlights the importance of long-term strategies to reduce indoor radon exposure.

LoRAD Pro was developed to address this gap, providing continuous, real-time radon monitoring suitable for deployment at scale.

Why It Matters
