Real-time Radon Monitoring

At Nesos Group, product development is driven by the identification of systemic environmental and operational risks that are not adequately addressed by existing technologies.

Our focus is on developing infrastructure-grade monitoring solutions that enable organisations to gain continuous, reliable visibility across property portfolios supporting compliance, risk reduction, and informed decision-making at scale.

Nesos Group is based in Jersey, where recorded radon levels are among the highest in the British Isles. In assessing how radon risk is managed across housing associations, commercial estates, and government-owned buildings, we identified a clear and systemic gap in the market: the absence of scalable, real-time monitoring.

This challenge is particularly significant in environments such as schools and educational facilities, where prolonged radon exposure presents an elevated risk to occupants. Conventional testing methods remain periodic and short-term, providing only a limited snapshot rather than continuous, actionable insight.

Despite the requirement for persistent monitoring across multiple buildings, existing solutions have historically been designed for isolated or specialist use — often constrained by cost, infrastructure dependency, or limited scalability.

In response, Nesos Group developed LoRAD Pro - the world’s only radon monitoring system certified by the LoRa Alliance - enabling continuous, remote monitoring across entire property portfolios without reliance on WiFi or fixed infrastructure.

LoRAD Pro – LoRaWAN Radon Monitor

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas and a significant public-health risk. It is colourless, odourless, and impossible to detect without specialist monitoring. Long-term exposure is a well-established cause of lung cancer.

The World Health Organization recommends a reference level of 100 Bq/m³ where feasible and highlights the importance of long-term strategies to reduce indoor radon exposure.

LoRAD Pro was developed to address this gap, providing continuous, real-time radon monitoring suitable for deployment at scale.

Why It Matters

Radon levels fluctuate over time and seasonally. Continuous monitoring provides an accurate picture of true exposure, enabling earlier identification of elevated levels and more informed mitigation decisions.
